Bishopdale Community Preschool Weekly News
February 22nd Commemoration Activity
To commemorate last year's earthquake of February 22nd we would like the children to each bring a flower to preschool and if possible dress in red and black.
We invite parents and whanau to join us for a sausage sizzle lunch at 12pm and at 12.51 we will come together for a minute of silence followed by singing a waiata. The children will release helium balloons into the air.
At the end of the day one of our teachers will take the flowers down to Hagley Park and let them float down the Avon river.

Child Language Research Study
We all know children who are later to talk than others – at two years old it’s really hard to tell which children will need extra help to learn to talk and which ones will catch up on their own. The Child Language Centre at the University of Canterbury is running a large research study to help figure out the answer to this question. If your child will be aged 2-2.5 years old over the next six months, you can help us with this study! There are two parts to the study, the first simply involves filling in 2 quick questionnaires. We need 1000 parents to complete this part of the study. The second part involves parents bringing their child in for a language and memory assessment at the university. We will ask 200 parents to participate in this part.
